Oakland, CA, May 1, 2007—Tom Sawyer® Software, a leading provider of high-performance graph visualization, layout, and analysis solutions, today released Tom Sawyer Visualization, Version 8.0, Java Edition.
The Tom Sawyer Visualization product line delivers sophisticated component technology that manages, reveals, and displays graphical, customized views of relational data, making it possible to immediately identify relationships, connections, and emerging patterns within the data. The software displays pathways, models, flows, dependencies, networks, and schematics in a comprehensive visual format.
Tom Sawyer Visualization, Version 8.0, Java Edition, offers new and enhanced features:
Input and Output
Tom Sawyer Visualization, Version 8.0, Java Edition simplifies editing by providing the capability to change the shapes of nodes or drag connectors to new locations through the Object Properties Inspector. This release also provides an improved constant speed link navigator, enabling users to follow links at their own speed. It features improved hit-testing sensitivity with large graphs at low zoom levels, enabling users to select and locate specific nodes and edges more easily. Other added benefits include improved schematic diagramming with connectors, which enables users to easily move connectors. Further, a new .gif export facility is provided.
The implementation of a new symmetric layout algorithm brings dramatic performance improvements for very large drawings, helping our customers in intelligence, life sciences, and networking obtain more scalable applications. Edge crossings are reduced considerably in circular layout, making it easier to navigate through drawings. Substantial performance improvement in orthogonal layout produces drawings of outstanding quality.
The layout constraint system enhances users' ability to control layout output based on their application needs. More intuitive geometric interfaces enable users to specify their application constraints independent of layout styles. The new constraint categorization offers customers more flexibility and ease of use.
