Tom Sawyer Software Releases Upgraded JSP Visualization Software

Tom Sawyer Visualization, Version 8.0, JSP Edition, Introduces New Interactive Panning and Diagram Editing

Oakland, CA, May 2, 2007—Tom Sawyer® Software, a leading provider of high-performance graph visualization, layout, and analysis solutions, today released Tom Sawyer Visualization, Version 8.0, JSP Edition, a visualization product line that supports Web-based thin client architectures. Tom Sawyer was the first to integrate Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) into our visualization products, which helps users view and edit drawings within a browser more efficiently. Users can continuously work on their application without stalls or delays.

Tom Sawyer Visualization delivers sophisticated component technology that manages, reveals graphical and customized views of relational data, making it possible to immediately identify connections and emerging patterns within your data such as pathways, models, flows, dependencies, processes, networks, and schematics.

Tom Sawyer Visualization, JSP Edition provides flexible and extensible server-side JSP components and Java class libraries that enable you to add graph visualization functionalities, and embed interactive images of your relational data within your thin client web applications quickly and efficiently. With this upgraded product, you can easily enhance your web applications with sophisticated graph display, viewing, and editing technologies presented in an eye-catching, intuitive graphical user interface. Furthermore, new editing features are a highlight of this release, which allow you to add, delete, and move objects within a browser.

New Features

Tom Sawyer Visualization, Version 8.0, JSP Edition, offers new and enhanced features:

Added Benefits

With the advancements in web development, many visualization web applications must not only provide functionalities for end users to view their relational data, but also to interactively edit diagrams from the browser client. This release provides interactive tools and interfaces that allow end users to dynamically edit objects in the drawing. An interactive panning tool is also provided, which makes it easier for end users to navigate through drawings.

The implementation of a new symmetric layout algorithm brings dramatic performance improvements for very large drawings, helping our customers in intelligence, life sciences, and networking obtain more scalable applications. Edge crossings are reduced considerably in circular layout, making it easier to navigate through drawings. A substantial improvement in performance and drawing quality in orthogonal layout produces drawings of outstanding quality.

The layout constraint system enhances users' ability to control layout output based on their application needs. More intuitive geometric interfaces enable users to specify their application constraints independent of layout styles. The new constraint categorization offers customers more flexibility and ease of use.

New tutorials show you how to use the product more efficiently.
