Tom Sawyer Software Releases Tom Sawyer Perspectives, Version 4.0

Tom Sawyer Perspectives, Version 4.0, Introduces an Advanced, Data-driven, Graphics Architecture

Oakland, CA, April 3, 2012 — Tom Sawyer Software, the premier provider of software for building high-performance data visualization and social network analysis applications, announces the release of Tom Sawyer Perspectives, Version 4.0. This release introduces an advanced, data-driven, graphics architecture with greater flexibility at run-time to enhance the user experience for both building and using visualization and analysis applications.

Tom Sawyer Perspectives, Version 4.0, introduces new visualization capabilities for applications that require graphical drawings with "level of detail" support, enabling the end user to expose additional graphical detail as zooming thresholds are passed. In addition, each graphical attribute can respond to data property changes, based on the data-to-drawing rules specified for that drawing element, supporting many of the requirements for semantic zooming.

With this release, Tom Sawyer Perspectives offers new drawing templates support to enable user interface architects, human factors groups, and software designers to easily define industry-specific drawing styles, such as network diagrams, link analysis diagrams and business process diagrams, independent from the sources of data. Drawing templates enable teams to develop user interface assets for reuse in different applications.

Tom Sawyer Perspectives, Version 4.0, also improves the speed of its advanced layout technology in support of enhanced scalability for Big Data applications. Symmetric layout is now thirty-five percent faster for drawings with ten thousand nodes or more, with no reduction in drawing quality. Drawing resolution is further improved through more precise and accurate labeling technology and improved orthogonal routing in nested drawings.

This release also expands support for complex link analysis through a timeline view designed to show emerging trends hidden in data sets. A new path trace view enhances visualization and analysis in network management applications. Tom Sawyer Perspectives, Version 4.0, also adds Eclipse SWT application support and offers integration with Objectivity's distributed graph database, InfiniteGraph, and Google Earth.

"Our aim is to continue enhancing the power and flexibility of data visualization and social network analysis capabilities in Tom Sawyer Perspectives and provide the most flexible and powerful software for building advanced visualization and analysis applications," said Brendan Madden, Chief Executive Officer. "As part of this strategy, the company remains ahead of the curve, providing our customers the latest technology in visualization and analysis."

Tom Sawyer Perspectives is graphics-based software for developing production data-oriented visual analysis applications. It is a complete Software Development Kit, purpose-built around a rule-based design methodology, allowing developers to focus on business issues around visualization and analysis. Tom Sawyer Perspectives enables teams to quickly develop applications without sacrificing performance or quality.
