Oakland, CA, September 16, 2011—Tom Sawyer Software, the premier provider of software for building high-performance data visualization and social network analysis applications, is continuing its commitment to the research community as the gold sponsor of the annual International Symposium on Graph Drawing. In addition, Tom Sawyer Software has been selected to provide a challenge graph to be used in the graph drawing contest this year. The symposium is to be held from September 21 - 23, 2011 at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
The International Symposium on Graph Drawing is the main annual event that brings together top researchers and practitioners working in the area of graph drawing. Graph Drawing is concerned with the geometric representation of graphs and networks and is motivated by those applications where it is crucial to visualize structural information as graphs. Since graph drawing methods form the algorithmic core of network visualization, bridging the gap between theoretical advances and implemented solutions is an important aspect.
As part of its continued efforts to promote graph visualization best practices, Tom Sawyer Software is contributing a challenge graph to the Graph Drawing Contest with a musical theme. For this challenge, Tom Sawyer Software is asking researchers to combine graph drawing algorithms and complexity reduction techniques to visually present a complex data set of composers and their influence.
"The Graph Drawing Symposium is a forum where like-minded researchers gather to generate novel ideas, work together to create innovative solutions, and foster a forward-thinking community. This conference also cultivates the next generation of graph drawing experts," said Brendan Madden, Chief Executive Officer of Tom Sawyer Software. "Tom Sawyer Software has strong roots in the graph drawing community, and we are committed to supporting the industry."
Tom Sawyer Software is the leading provider of software and services that enable organizations to build highly scalable and flexible graph and data visualization and analysis applications. These applications are used to discover hidden patterns, complex relationships, and key trends in large and diverse datasets. Tom Sawyer Software serves clients with needs in link analysis; network topology; architectures and models; schematics and maps; and dependencies, flows, and processes. We help clients federate and integrate their data from multiple sources and build the graph and data visualization applications that are critical to analyzing and gaining insight into their data.View All Press Releases
