Vice President of Finance

Seeking experienced, hands-on Vice President of Finance to lead financial operations of a growing, global B2B software company. Remote position located in the USA.

Position Description

Tom Sawyer Software is seeking an experienced, hands-on Vice President of Finance to lead all financial operations of a growing, global B2B software company. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works closely with the executive team to guide financial strategy, ensure operational discipline, and support multiple departments to ensure long-term growth.

The Vice President of Finance will serve as both a strategic partner and an operational leader. The ideal candidate is a Certified Public Accountant with deep experience in software and international finance, capable of managing day-to-day accounting while also advising on capital strategy, risk management, and business planning. This position oversees a small U.S. finance team and oversees the work performed by international accountants and tax firms. This position requires a leader who is comfortable being directly involved in financial details as well as executive-level decision making.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Finance and Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO and executive staff on financial strategy and corporate planning

  • Develop financial goals aligned with company growth objectives

  • Support capital planning, fundraising efforts, and investor communications

Financial Operations

  • Oversee all accounting, reporting, and compliance functions

  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting

  • Maintain GAAP compliance and strong internal controls

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning

  • Oversee revenue recognition and expense management

International and Compliance

  • Consolidate and roll up financials across foreign entities and multiple currencies

  • Work with U.S.-based and global tax consultants to manage tax, annual financial reviews, regulatory, and statutory compliance across jurisdictions

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. federal contracting rules and reporting requirements

Treasury and Capital Management

  • Manage banking relationships and corporate treasury functions

  • Optimize working capital and liquidity

  • Support capital raises, debt facilities, or equity financing as needed

Team & Process Management

  • Directly manage and mentor the Finance team

  • Improve financial systems, processes, and scalability

  • Implement financial tools and automation appropriate for a growing software business

Qualifications

Required

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with significant time in software or technology companies

  • Demonstrated experience consolidating financials across international subsidiaries

  • Experience managing banking relationships and treasury operations

  • Experience raising capital or supporting financing transactions

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial modeling, and internal controls

  • Proven ability to be hands-on in a small or mid-sized organization

  • Experience with QuickBooks

Preferred

  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field

  • Experience in venture-backed or growth-stage environments

  • Experience with U.S. Federal contracting compliance and reporting

  • Forensic accounting or audit background
