Tom Sawyer SysML v2 Viewer 2.1 Expands SysML v2 Standards Support and Visualization Capabilities

Adds graphical support for n-ary relationships and smoother diagram interaction behavior

PRESS RELEASE

BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA, USA, May 20, 2026—Tom Sawyer Software, the leader in graph and data visualization technology, today announced the release of Tom Sawyer SysML v2 Viewer 2.1. This release expands support of the SysML v2 standards and enhances the visualization capabilities for systems engineers.

Tom Sawyer SysML v2 Viewer provides automatic model visualization of SysML v2 API-compliant models, providing systems engineers the ability to explore and understand intricate SysML v2 models. It provides automatic layout, intuitive graph interaction, and seamless integration with any SysML v2 API-compliant repository enabling systems engineers to efficiently analyze complex models and gain deeper insights.

Version 2.1 of SysML v2 Viewer introduces support for n-ary relationships, enabling rendering of multi-participant dependency relationships, as well as connections with multiple source and target elements. Preservation of orthogonal edge routing helps maintain clean, visually consistent diagrams during interactive editing, and additional drawing view enhancements further increase diagram readability and layout stability as models evolve over time. Version 2.1 also upgrades to the 2026-03 SysML v2 reference implementation, helping organizations stay aligned with the latest supported SysML v2 technologies. Together, these enhancements improve clarity, usability, and confidence when working with increasingly sophisticated system models.

“As SysML v2 models continue to grow in complexity and scale, systems engineers need visualization tools that keep pace with evolving standards, and make models easier to explore, understand, and communicate,” said Brendan Madden, CEO of Tom Sawyer Software. “With Version 2.1, we’re helping teams work more effectively with sophisticated system architectures.”

New in this release:

  • Added Support for n-ary Associations: Tom Sawyer SysML v2 Viewer now supports complex multi-participant associations (n-ary relationships), enabling visualization of dependencies involving more than two elements, including connections spanning multiple sources and targets. This enhancement expands graphical syntax support to represent more sophisticated system structures and behaviors visually, reducing reliance on textual syntax interpretation.

  • Orthogonal Edge Routing Preserved: When users drag and drop selected nodes, Tom Sawyer SysML v2 Viewer automatically preserves orthogonal edge routing. This results in cleaner interactions, more stable layouts, and visually consistent diagrams during exploration.

  • Drawing View Improvements: Enhancements to disconnected node placement and edge spacing improve overall diagram stability and readability, making models easier to follow as they evolve.

  • Upgrade to 2026-03 SMC Pilot: This release includes the 2026-03 SysML v2 reference implementation enabling users to keep up to date and model against an actively supported implementation of a SysML v2 compiler and API.
