Description

Tom Sawyer Software is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Helpdesk and System Administrator for its office in Riga, Latvia. The Helpdesk and System Administrator will help administer company systems and networks, and provide desktop support for employees worldwide. We are looking for someone with broad systems and networking experience, strong diagnostic and customer support skills, and the ability to work effectively with little direct supervision. The candidate should be highly responsible, responsive to rapidly changing company needs, a self-starter, and enjoy the challenge of working with diverse systems and platforms.

Primary Responsibilities: Qualifications: Manage Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008, Linux, and Solaris 9 systems administration production and lab environment Manage VMware ESX environment at multiple sites Manage Mixed network of Cisco and Juniper routers, firewalls and VPNs Provide Level 1 and 2 helpdesk support for local and remote user community in a mixed Microsoft Windows and Macintosh OS X environment Assist in backup administration Active Directory user management and administration Basic MS SQL, Samba, MySQL, and Apache server administration E-mail administration using Zimbra Collaboration Server Special projects as assigned Some after hours and weekend work required Required to be available for 24x7 emergency IT support, as scheduled Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience Well developed diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Strong TCP/IP and network troubleshooting required Experience with Cisco, Juniper, HP, Dell, Apple, and Sun hardware Five years of experience managing networks—firewalls, VPN, and switching Five years of experience with Windows server and desktop administration Three years of experience with Solaris or Linux systems administration including installing, patching, and configuring operating system, shell scripting, and building and configuring open-source services such as Apache and Samba Five years of experience with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 desktop operating systems Two years of experience with Mac OS X desktop administration Familiarity with Microsoft Office 2007 BASH and Perl scripting Flexible and well-organized Attention to detail Good documentation skills Ability to lift 20 kilograms Good people skills
