Tom Sawyer Perspectives 14.0.0 Expands Flexibility and Global Reach for Graph Visualization Applications

New product tiers, internationalization support, and graph drawing and layout enhancements give organizations more options for deploying applications

PRESS RELEASE

BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA, USA, November 5, 2026—Tom Sawyer Software, the leader in graph and data visualization technology, today announced the release of Tom Sawyer Perspectives 14.0.0. This release delivers greater flexibility in how users deploy graph and data visualization applications while making those applications more accessible to users around the world.

Tom Sawyer Perspectives 14.0.0 introduces new product tiers that provide a choice of features while building applications and presents new pricing flexibility to accommodate software companies of different sizes and maturity levels. The new internationalization feature allows teams to localize applications to support multiple languages within a single application. Additional enhancements include text fitting for nodes, labels, and connectors to remove unnecessary white space, visualization of intergraph edge segments within child graphs, the ability to use the arrow keys to pan, improved animation when expanding child drawings, and numerous graph layout enhancements for disconnected nodes.

"Tom Sawyer Perspectives 14.0.0 gives customers more flexibility in choosing the capabilities that fit their application and budgetary requirements while making it easier to serve users in different languages,” said Brendan Madden, CEO of Tom Sawyer Software. “The new product tiers provide a clearer path for organizations to select the right level of functionality, and the internationalization capabilities help teams deliver a single application that can support users across multiple languages."

New in this release:

  • Flexible Product Tiers: Three product tiers from basic graph visualization to more advanced visualization, exploration, and analysis capabilities offer pricing flexibility to companies of different sizes and maturity levels. Each tier builds on the previous tier by adding capabilities such as annotations, additional views, search, filtering, analytics, and additional automatic graph layout styles. The highest tier adds Map, Chart, and Timeline views along with Orthogonal layout for applications that require the broadest visualization capabilities. When using the first or second tier, available capabilities remain visible but grayed out in Tom Sawyer Perspectives Designer, making it easy to see which additional features are included with higher tiers.

  • Internationalization Support: The new internationalization feature allows teams to localize applications to support multiple languages within a single application. Application interface text including view labels, menu items, tooltips, tab labels, UI template text, and other user-visible strings can be translated into multiple languages offering users of the application the ability to select their preferred language for a localized experience. These capabilities simplify localization of Tom Sawyer Perspectives applications for different audiences without having to maintain separate application versions.

  • Tight Text Fitting: Nodes, labels, and connectors now fit more closely around their text reducing unnecessary spacing and resulting in smaller overall node, label, and connector size.

  • Intergraph Edge Visibility: When using the Go to Child action, intergraph edge segments are now displayed within child drawings, providing additional context for relationships that extend beyond the current nested structure. This makes it easier to follow connections across drawing boundaries and understand how elements relate to the broader graph.

  • Graph Layout Enhancements: Updates to graph layout include improved handling of disconnected nodes to more closely maintain the required aspect ratio, improved layout of disconnected nodes when using swimlanes, and more precise shape clipping in Bundle layout. These refinements improve space utilization and produce even more polished graph drawings.

  • Drawing View Improvements: Web application users can now pan across the drawing view using the keyboard arrow keys, providing a more convenient way to navigate large or detailed drawings without relying solely on the mouse. This release also improves animation when expanding nested drawings within nodes that contain text for an improved overall viewing experience.

  • Improved Search and Interface Usability: Search results are easier to review with a wider dropdown and improved text wrapping for longer entries. Updated Select and Pan icons, along with a consistent Tom Sawyer Perspectives icon improve interface clarity and visual consistency.

  • Expanded Platform Support: Support was added for Java 25 alongside Java 21 giving development teams greater flexibility in selecting their Java runtime environment. Brave browser support also expands deployment options for Tom Sawyer Perspectives web applications. Updates to Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and other third-party components help keep the platform current with modern development environments and dependencies.

Together, these enhancements make it easier to tailor, deploy, and use graph visualization applications across a broader range of users and requirements.
