Role at Tom Sawyer Software

Ulrich Foessmeier has played an influential role in the success of Tom Sawyer Software both in recent and past years. He rejoined Tom Sawyer Software in 2017 as the Vice President of Engineering, where he applies his twenty years of experience in the software industry managing large, and complex product development projects and global engineering teams. From 1997–2011 he worked at Tom Sawyer Software in various roles from Orthogonal layout specialist in the Graph Layout group to Vice President of Engineering, and finally to General Manager of the German office. Further contributions within these years included redesigning and modularizing the entire code base, establishing a defect tracking tool, and building new Tom Sawyer Software teams in Europe. 

Working Background

During his time away from Tom Sawyer Software, Ulrich worked as the Director of Software Engineering for Thermo Fisher Scientific where he oversaw 45 software developers. He was responsible for the development of the Chromatography Data System at three sites, the establishment of a development partnership program, and the integration of new teams in remote locations. 

Education

Ulrich holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Tuebingen where he received the Rector’s Prize for the best Ph.D. thesis of the year. He is a PPI Senior Process Manager and Trainer with authority to train and qualify Practical Process Improvement managers, making him one of the world’s leading experts in this technique. Ulrich is also an Exin-certified Scrum Master.
