Exciting Model-Based Engineering Enhancements and Save to Neo4j Now Available

Tom Sawyer Perspectives 8.2 Offers Business Process Execution Enhancements and Schema Extraction for SQL and Apache TinkerPop

Berkeley, CA, August 8, 2018—Tom Sawyer Software, the global leader in graph and data visualization and analysis technology, announces the release of Tom Sawyer Perspectives 8.2. Systems Engineering customers can take advantage of Internal Block Diagram performance improvements and the ability to define view arrangement.

The new release adds save to Neo4j, which allows users to design, author, and edit graphs and save the results. Business Process users will enjoy great improvements to the Business Process Execution module.

Many enhancements requested by customers in the automotive, aerospace, and consumer products industries are included in Tom Sawyer Perspectives 8.2. For example, to enhance model-based systems engineering (MBSE), we've added support for application arrangement, filtering by relationship attributes, improved connector labeling, and increased color options for MBSE drawings. In addition, customers will see performance improvements such as Internal Block diagrams that open 20–30% faster.

With the new save-to-Neo4j capability, developers can create Neo4j applications through higher-level authoring where they can focus on designing, editing, and modeling graphs. End users don't need technical knowledge to easily save changes to the graph database. In addition, developers can quickly build applications for SQL and Apache TinkerPop using the new schema extraction capability.

The Graph Database Browser has improved query editing and navigation through product features. It is also easier to apply and modify appearance rules for the graph database elements.

Business Process users can now execute processes with service tasks, boundary events, ad hoc sub-processes, and call activities. These features enable automation of certain tasks and allow more precise and flexible execution of complex business processes.

"Our customers in the automotive, aerospace, and consumer products industries are excited about our improvements to nested orthogonal drawings," said Brendan Madden, Chief Executive of Tom Sawyer Software. "We now support multiple edges connecting to nested connectors or ports along with a new node and connector growth model. Customers are also excited about the new hover and color work we added to the Model-Based Engineering product. The drawings are even more attractive now."
